High Violet Charts at #3, Almost Tops that Bieber Kid

If you visit this site regularly, then you've probably listened to The National before. And there's also a good chance you know about their new album, High Violet. As it turns out, you're not alone. On Wednesday, Pitchfork reported that America's tuning in, too, with High Violet selling 51,000 copies in its first week and charting at #3 on the Billboard 200, behind only Justin Bieber ("The Biebs") and Lady Antebellum (no nickname). Exciting stuff, yeah?

To celebrate the release and raise money for their friends at the Red Hot Organization, the band played a gig at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Filmmakers D.A. Pennebaker and Chris Hedgeus were on site to film the performance, parts of which were then put on YouTube! with music videos and other National new media. The trailer, which cleverly alluded to another video by Pennebaker:

It looks like these guys might make it.
